Pursey routinely sent up their appearances on Top Of The Pops with ad libs such as, 'Don't turn me off, turn me up!', and violence followed them from gig to gig and a particularly egregious appearance at Middlesex Polytechnic, broken up by skinheads charging the stage, led to a cessation of gigging. In the interim, their sole Peel Session went out, previewing their first major label single, Borstal Breakout: in this title lay the origin of their first dissolution in 1979.Ĭhart success had followed with songs that were basically punk football chants, such as If The Kids Are United, Hersham Boys (their biggest hit) and Hurry Up Harry. I personally enjoy the convenience of tapes, they are convenient and portable, and normally much more affordable than vinyl. I had a Television tape from the seventies that was completely faded and it played like a dream and never let me down, I also had an REM tape that looked new and played terribly! The inlays and booklets are graded the same way as LP sleeves, but keep in mind, most are graded by me as VG as most have normal wear and tear. Do not mistake excellent looking tapes as quality and faded tapes as poor, it is all about the sound. On lightly played tapes the writing will probably be crystal clear and on tapes that has obviously been played many times the writing will probably be faded. The tape will probably also have the same. The RGS system for tape is a sonic grade, for those unfamiliar with the system, what this means is that it is how the cassette sounds that is important and not how it looks! These days most cassette boxes will have marks and scuffs. If a tape plays perfectly like this one, then it is graded as mint. I use the Record Collector Grading System for all my cassettes. Catolouge Number- POLDC 5025 A Cool Vault Listing. This is a genuine punk classic, every bit as good as Sandtanista, by the Clash which was also a long album. It has the classic iconic Polydor red label that collector's love! I have test played this Cassette and it sounds marvelous! This release was a big double album, it's great to get it all on one Cassette. This is not the versions on Sham best ofs, either! Some of the tracks are quite long but always interesting and exciting! This Cassette is quite rare and hard to find. Punk and Sham 69 fans might be interested to know that the versions of the songs on this album are radically different from the singles.
